GrandWay 12 KG refers to the unusual kind of semi-folding blade knives. A knife of this type, folding on the hinge, hides in the handle but not completely.
The length of the blade significantly exceeds the length of its handle. When it is folded, it is stored in a sheath and ready for use, it looks like a normal medium-sized knife, in fully open position - like a knife with a long blade. In the folded and in the unfolded position the blade of this knife is fixed by a spring latch.
The knives of this type are called "folding blade hunting knife", or jaeger knife. In German they are called Verlängerungsmesser ("extended knife", "knife with elongation") or Saufaenger ("pig sticking knife" is a knife for finishing off a wild boar or a wounded game). Indeed, the knife in its unfolded form bears great resemblance to a dagger.
Most of the folding knives are suitable for EDC (every day carry), but the compactness of such knives cannot but affect the size of the blade. This knife is a good solution to this problem.
However, it is not a cold steel weapon, and is certified as a utility knife. The knife is equipped with a comfortable holster, in which it is convenient to wear it in a semi-folded form. It is suitable not only for functional use, but also will please collectors of unusual folding blade knives.
