Hero groom saves boy from drowning during wedding photo shoot
A groom and his newly-wedded wife were taking their post-ceremony pictures in Victoria Park in Kitchener, Ontario. A group of three children were following the happy couple around the park, but suddenly one of the kids disappeared. The groom walked closer to the pond to investigate. Clayton Cook noticed a young boy submerged in the park's pond and quickly jumped from a grassy perch above to the water's edge below to pull him out. The couple's photographer, Darren Hatt, captured the moment and shared the images on his Facebook page, where they've been shared more than 1,700 times.
"While I was taking solo pictures of the bride this little guy was pushed into the river behind me by another child," Hatt posted. "By the time the bride noticed and shouted out, Clayton had already jumped down and brought him to safety. His quick action saved the little guy who was struggling to swim. Well done sir!"
After Cook’s quick-thinking heroics, he and his wife Brittany finished their photo session with Hatt and enjoyed their wedding reception.
"That's Clay to me," said the bride. "It's something he would just instinctively do. It was like fate almost, we were meant to be there. If we weren't in the right place at the right time, things may have gone differently and perhaps even tragically."
