A passer-by saves life of disabled man after freak canal fall
A gust of wind blew a disabled man and his mobility scooter into a canal. Allan Meehan feared he was about to die as he does not have the use of his left arm and would have been unable to save himself. But he was saved by brave Christopher McCluskey who jumped in the water and pulled him to safety. Mr Meehan, 46, said: “I just stopped as soon as the rain came on and that is when I noticed I was in the water. Then Christopher came and pulled me up.” Mr. Meehan’s elder sister, Eileen McGuire said: “That boy gave no thought to his own safety – he saved Allan’s life. I think Christopher is an absolute hero. He realised someone needed his help.”
